Yangon: Ammonia gas leak at ice factory creates panic, almost 30 fall sick

Reports say, residents of Hlaing Township, Yangon Region noticed bad-smell in the late evening of January 12 at an estimated 8:30 pm from the #leakage_of_Ammonia_gas from the ice factory located in No. 13 Ward, Oakyin Station Street.
As per the latest information, at least 29 residents were fell sick with suffocation and eye burns.
Myanmar Fire Service Department was informed the incident at an estimated 9:10 pm. A total of four fire engines, two water tenders, three LUF 60 fire engine, one special operation truck, three ambulances, one Hazmat vehicle and one command vehicle involved in the rescue operations.
Currently, approximately 29 people were sent to Insein Hospital and North Okkalapa General Hospital.
Authorities conducted operations for clearance of Ammonia gas in the surroundings.
