The Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement was signed in 2015.

However, the pragmatic progress as per the #NCA provisions had been stagnant for the previous seven years, Chairman and General of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) #Yawd_Serk said.

General Yawd Serk underlined it during the meeting with the State Peace Talks Team led by Lt-Gen Yar Pyae in Naypyidaw on January 24.

The NCA was signed on 31 March 2015 by Thein Sein Administration with many ethnic leaders and government officials. After that, National League for Democracy ruling government led by Aung San Suu Kyi took office.

As a matter of fact, the NCA-signatory ethnic groups couldn’t conduct, effectively, either regional development or political progresses between 2016 and the end of 2020; then, the country was stuck in turmoil in 2021 and 2022. In fact, the NCA progress has been halted since 2016.

General Yawd Serk insisted to take lessons from the past so as to formulate peace in the future.

The RCSS delegation will discuss this with the State Peace Talks Team in Naypyidaw for three days.
