EV awareness program introduced in Yangon

#Electric_Vehicles Knowledge Sharing and People Awareness Program was held on February 4 2023 in purpose of widely spread use of the EVs to reduce the global warming disaster instead of using fuel and gas.
The EVs are expected to be imported mostly from China. Currently, a total of 26 companies have submitted for import licenses for the EVs. At present, there are 20 EVs in Yangon and Naypyidaw 10 in Yangon and another 10 in Naypyidaw, are serving as taxies, an official from Ministry of Industry informed at the event.
The Ministry expects on EVs to be used in Myanmar widely as the government has to purchase fuel and gas from the external market yearly. By using EVs, it will help the reduction of external costs on fuel and gas importation, the Ministry said.
The government urges the public, as the first step, to use the EVs widely. Again, it is expected to produce locally the EVs after 2050 when the local car market highly demands on the EVs and charger stations will be built, according to the official.
In the functions of EVs, types of normal and fast charging, Myanmar font in the screen will be displayed; IEC standard for charging system will be available; but the official price has not announced yet, according to an official from the EV Myanmar Group.
The Ministry of Commerce also released the Notification No.62/2022 on 11 November 2022 on electric vehicles and buses for transport.
