Myanmar’s first EV Charging Station opened in Naypyidaw

The first ever Charging Station for #electric_vehicles in Myanmar has been opened in Naypyidaw on March 4 at Thapyaygone Market.

As per information, ten EV started providing taxi services in Naypyidaw on the day.

The company that will import electric vehicles requires sufficient infrastructures including a showroom asset of displaying brand new cars and EV charging stations.

The EV importers shall have to operate taxi transportation services with at least ten vehicles, as per the rules developed for the EV importers.

There are a total of nine companies that have been permitted to import the electric vehicles at present according to the rules set. Amongst, MG company can import the EVs and can build the Charging Stations.

“There are five sets of EV Charger with 60KW. Ten vehicles can use charging service at the same time. It will take about 45 minutes for a time charging to have full energy and can drive about 300km after one time charging. Our company is the first that can open the Charging Station in Myanmar,” an official from MG Company told NP News.

Currently, the State Administration Council liberalized rules and imposed tax exemption for the importers for the development of electric vehicles and related industries in Myanmar.

Authorities plan to establish the charging stations on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway and in Yangon, Naypyidaw, Mandalay and near the gasoline shops.
