Telecommunications Dept issues final alert for SIM registration

#Post_and_Telecommunications_Department (PTD) issued a public notification today (March 14) announcing that the PTD is on process of checking and scrutinizing the citizenship scrutiny card number and phone #SIM_card registered name which are already entered into the National Data base information from the Ministry of Immigration and Population.

The PTD will send warning text messages to the holders of the SIM cards which are unidentical to the information filled in the database.

Those SIM cards that failed to reenter the correct data will not be able to make phone calls or send SMS messages; and according to the PTD’s notification, such unidentical SIMs will be encountered actions of One Way Block; and shall register with the National Identity Card within 90 days.

Otherwise, these SIM cards will be deactivated permanently, the PTD notification said.

The Post and Telecommunications Department made announcement to the public to recheck whether the currently used SIM cards are correctly registered or if they are sent warning text messages.

In addition, they need to register SIM cards with the correct data through Applications, Websites and other mobile service providers, the PTD announced.
