Myanmar Navy sends relief supplies and food to Sittwe by flagships

Two flagships: UMS Moattama and UMS Maha Bandula departed yesterday morning (May 16) carrying the relief supplies and foods for the disaster area Sittwe, as per the information released by the State Administration Council (SAC).

The relief supplies and food were donated by the families form the military (air force, navy and army) and donors.

The supplies involve 60 tons of food supplies by the office of Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services (Army); 600 tons of food supplies by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement; 37 tons of Tarpaulin rolls; 105 tons of rice from the SAC Office; 35 tons of iron nails and 160 tons of iron roofs from Myanmar Economic Corporation; and a mobile communication vehicle by MPT of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication; and 17 tons of communication related devices and accessories were carried by the UMS Moattama.

The donation of relief supplies and foods involving 113 packages of noodles, 8,800 packs of rehydration salts, 5,000 eggs, purified water and meats and fishes, 168kg of fish pastes, 1,344kg of dried fishes by the office of Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services (Navy); 10,000 eggs from Yangon Region Command; and 25 tons of rice bags from Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement were carried by the UMS Maha Bandula.

In addition, other vessels from the Myanmar Navy are also ready to provide necessary aids for the Cyclone victims and disaster area, the statement said.
