Myanmar confirms over 2400 new Covid case in May

According to the statistics released by the Ministry of Health, there has been over 2,444 confirmed cases of Covid-19 within first two weeks of May.

As per information, a total of 72 positive cases were confirmed on May 15 with 0.8 percent infection detected rate.

Covid cases have been increasing again since May 1.

New genetic variant XBB 1.16 (Arcturus) was also found in those confirmed cases.

Eye pain and earache are found in the infected patients, according to the statistics released by the MOH.

Although the current genetic of Covid is more contagious, symptoms are not severe, hospital admissions and fatalities are not higher, according to the MOH.
