Myanmar, Russia discuss sea path from Vladivostok to Myanmar Ports

Authorities of Myanmar and Russia Federation held discussion on situations and seeking the sea path from Vladivostok to ports in Myanmar, according to reports.
The 16th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from 14 to 17 June in St. Petersburg.
The Minister of Planning and Finance Win Shane, Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) Dr. Kan Zaw, Minister of Electric Power Thaung Han and the Governor of Than Than Swe attended the forum.
Myanmar delegation led by Minister Win Shane met with the officials form Far Eastern Shipping Co P.L.C., a Russian transportation and logistics company, on June 14 morning, according to the statement released by the State Administration Council (SAC).
During the meeting, they discussed the prospects of cooperation in cargo logistics and transportation, as well as the prospects of connecting the port of Vladivostok to the ports in Myanmar by sea, according to the SAC.
Currently, Myanmar and Russia are discussing issues related to the purchase of fuel, and it is expected to be transported by shipment.
In addition, the two countries also discussed plans for direct flights between Myanmar and Russia; the first route is planned to operate in July. Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will operate a direct flight between Myanmar and Russia, and it is expected to fly once in a week.
The SAC provided a visa-free program in 2022 for Russian citizens to visit Myanmar.
