Terror attacks on electricity projects resulting electricity poverty: Army Chief says

Electricity poverty in Myanmar is one of the results of terrorist acts targeting the long-term projects of producing electricity. The Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addressed it during the meeting of economic committee that was held on 25th August in Naypyidaw.

He added in his talk that the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and manufacturing enterprises based on agriculture were promoted in the Covid period in accordance with as per the terms prescribed in the Covid-19 regulations. However, the electricity projects were mainly targeted in the terror attacks.

From 1st February 2023 to 30th July 2023, there has been 26 power towers were destroyed by the terrorists within six months, according to the information released by the SAC.

Senior General said, on August 8, that 50 percent of the whole necessities of the country for electricity hasn’t been fulfilled yet.

Electricity is a challenging issue for the SAC and therefore, the authorities are trying to produce electricity from solar power, wind power and rice husk.
