The negotiations are being processed to hold the 8th year anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) inviting the NCA signatories ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) and international witnesses.

The NCA 8th year anniversary will be held on coming October 25 in Naypyidaw.

Colonel Saw Kyaw Nyunt from KNU/KNLA-PC told NP News that the event will be convened in a meaningful inspiration and invitation will be sent to the representatives from the Hluttaw, Tatmadaw and NCA signatories’ leaders, and international witnesses to attend the event.

Since February 2021 when the Tatmadaw took the state power, there have been criticisms that political discussions have not been able to be held effectively under the NCA path.

On the other sides, the State Administration Council (SAC) announced that the NCA 8th Anniversary will be held lively in a meaningful manner.

A total of eight EAOs including KNU, CNF, ABSDF, DKBA, PNLO, ALP, KNU/KNLA-PC and RCSS signed the NCA in 2015 during the administration of then-president Thein Sein.

In addition, two more EAOs namely LDU and NMSP signed the NCA in 2018. Therefore, there have been 10 NCA signatories EAOs in total.

However, KNU, CNF and ABSDF have been fighting with Tatmadaw lately despite of signing the NCA.
