According to the reports from the residents of Lashio Town, the bridge located at the exit of the town known as ‘Einaing’ Brdige was exploded by the allied forces of Ta’ang and Kachin terrorists (TNLA and KIA) on the early morning of January 1.
The bridge, located on the Lashio-Namtu Road near Einaing Village was exploded with mines by the TNLA and KIA terrorists at approximately 3 am on January 1, 2024.
The resident said, “We heard the explosion three times in the very early morning. The explosion was too loud. When the morning arrived, we learned that the Einaing Bridge was sabotaged. The bridge is totally collapsed and broken in half.”
The report states that the bridge has been totally collapsed and cannot be passed at the moment.
Another resident remarks, “The bridge is now totally damaged. Transportation has been totally halted now; both people and commodities cannot cross over the bridge at the moment. Now local people will have more difficulties in transportation. Since the bridge is totally collapsed, it will take a lot of time to fix it.”
On the other hand, authorities from the bridge and road department and the security forces are at the moment to build a bailey bridge for temporary use.
There is, now, only one channel to get to Lashio Town which is from Nampaung Town since the Einaing Bridge has been destroyed.
Also, on 28 December, the ‘Moetay’ Bridge that connects between Hsipaw and Namtu towns was sabotaged by the terrorist groups.
At the time being, the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has made an auspicious new year speech to the public through the State media.
