Teacher shot dead by PDF terrorists; over 100 educators killed since 2021

Report states that two terrorists shot and killed a schoolteacher at close range in Tada-U Township. They then continuously shot the teacher's father.

A regional government official informed The NP News that the incident took place on 19 March around 12 pm in Htanlonetat Village, Tada-U Township, Mandalay Region.

Ko Chit Zaw Oo, a 26-year-old basic education high school teacher serving in Htanlonetat Village, was tragically murdered by two unidentified terrorists while cycling along the village road.

"Two armed attackers shot the teacher at close range from the back, killing him instantly. They then proceeded to the victim's home and shot his father as well. This is an act of unspeakable brutality by these terrorists," a Mandalay Region government official said.

As a consequence of the terrorist attack carried out by two gunmen, schoolteacher Ko Chit Zaw Oo sustained the head split open from head to his chin, along with a gunshot wound to his knee, ultimately resulting in his immediate death at the scene.

Furthermore, Zaw Win Myint, the father of the assassinated teacher, got gunshot wounds on his cheek, arm, thigh, and neck. He is currently in critical condition and receiving medical treatment.

Since 2021, over 100 education staff members, including school teachers, have tragically lost their lives due to terrorist assassinations.
