Yangon: Commercial heartbeat of Myanmar

Yangon, the former capital of Myanmar and well-known as the commercial city of the country, sits on the Southeast corner of the Ayeyawady Delta basin. The population in Yangon has been steadily increasing annually and the urban areas are expanding. In addition, traditions and cultures have also flourished in Yangon. Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the wonders of the world, is the pride of Yangon City.
More than seven million populations living in Yangon as of 2024 as Yangon City is loaded with job opportunities attractive to youths from various states and regions. Large numbers of enterprises including industrial zones, ports, garment factories, and Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises are operating in Yangon.
International ports such as Yangon Port, Botahtaung Port, and Thilawa Port, which are major operating ports for the export and import shipments of the country, are located in Yangon.
Besides, traditions and cultures have also flourished in Yangon since the city is home to the majority Burmese people. On every auspicious day, religious and traditional events are held by the Burmese in Yangon. All religious events are held at the Shwedagon Pagoda, the best tourist destination in Yangon for foreigners. What is more, Yangon has many historic and unique pagodas, stupas, temples, and monasteries.
In addition, many street foods are being sold in the most populated areas such as Chinatown and Hledan. Most people come and enjoy dinner at street foods market with their families, friends, or partners for relax and chill. This is the simple and happy life living in Yangon.
Yangon Bus System (locally known as the YBS), taxis and circular trains are the major transportation routes for the populations from all walks of life in Yangon. The YBS and the circular trains provide public transportation services with very fair fare charges for their daily journey.
There are 33 townships in Yangon which host the steadily increasing population in Yangon. Favourable weather in the region makes the city-dwellers stay in Yangon for their life-long. For many reasons, despite degrading as the former capital of Myanmar, Yangon is still active and lively with its dynamic daily routines of the city-dwellers; which maintains the city as the commercial hub of the country.
