New Spain-made trains launched service on Yangon-Bago route

According to Myanmar Railways, new modern Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) trains purchased from Spain have started operation on the Yangon-Bago routes.

The previous RBE train service has been temporarily suspended and upgraded with the new modern DEMU trains.

The first DEMU passenger train departed from Bago station at 6:00 am on 1st October and arrived at Yangon station around 8:20 am.

The No. 15 Yangon-Bago DEMU up-train departed from Yangon station at 4:45 pm and arrived at Bago station at 7:05 pm.

The train will stop at the following stations along the route: Pazundaung, Mahl­w­agone, Thingangyun, Toekya­ungk­alay, Ywarthargyi, Layda­ungkan, Darpein, Kochae, Htongyi, Kyauktan, Tawa, and Payathonzu.

The Spain-made DEMU trains used for the Yangon-Bago route can accommodate a total of 832 passengers with sitting and standing.

The ticket fare for the entire journey is set at 2,500 kyats per person, while passengers traveling half the distance will be charged 1,300 kyats. It is reported that the train services will officially begin on 2nd October.
