Lynn (NP News) - Dec 10
The statement released on October 22 in the official government bulletin mentions that a committee has been formed to facilitate the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a security company between Myanmar and China.
The committee, consisting of 14 members, will be led by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs as the chairman, while the Director-General from the Ministry of Home Affairs, specifically from the Police and Legal Affairs Department, will take on the role of the secretary.
The committee will also include officials from various ministries, such as the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Ministry of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Immigration and Population, Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Commerce.
The responsibilities of the committee include assessing whether the proposed actions could undermine the sovereignty of the state, whether they would benefit the public, and whether they align with the policies set by the government.
The committee's responsibilities also include reviewing the potential entry of arms and weaponry, including the importation of weapons, communication equipment, and other controlled materials. The committee will determine whether it is necessary to include provisions for import permits and usage controls in the MoU to be signed with the Chinese government, as stated in the official government bulletin.
The establishment of the security company was proposed by the Chinese side, and the committee responsible for facilitating the signing of the MoU will consider the completion of its duties once the MoU is signed. This was stated in a directive issued by the Secretary of the State Administration Council, General Aung Lin Dwe.
