To attract and engage Chinese tourists, the Prime Minister of Thailand created a video using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to convert her voice from Thai to Mandarin Chinese.
On January 22, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra shared the video, which showed her voice speaking in Thai being transformed into Mandarin Chinese with the help of AI.
In response to the increasing human trafficking targeting Chinese nationals and criminal organizations based along the Thailand-Myanmar border, the number of Chinese tourists entering Thailand has declined. To address this, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra shared a 1 minute and 32-second video on the Thai government's "Thai Ku Fah" Facebook page.
"We understand that reports of scams targeting Chinese nationals along the Thai border have caused concern among Chinese tourists. The Thai government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all travelers," said Thailand Prime Minister in Mandarin, speaking through an AI-generated video.
Amid growing concerns over repatriation reports along the Thailand-Myanmar border, Thailand is making efforts to alleviate safety and security concerns for potential Chinese tourists ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year travel season. The country is actively working to ensure the safety of Chinese travelers and address any worries they may have.
Following reports that Chinese artists had been scammed and trafficked by criminal groups along the Thailand-Myanmar border but were subsequently rescued, Thailand has gained a reputation as a dangerous destination among Chinese nationals. This has led to growing concerns about safety among potential Chinese visitors.
During the first two weeks of January, China ranked at the top of Thailand's list of tourist arrivals, with one-sixth of the 1.3 million visitors to Thailand being Chinese nationals. –
