Chinese Spring Festival at Yangon’s National Theatre

The Chinese Spring Festival and Chinese New Year Celebration took place at the National Theatre in Yangon on January 25. Organized by the Bowen Chinese Language School, this marked the third Spring Festival gala hosted by Bowen at the National Theatre.
The event featured performances by approximately 1,000 participants, including students from the Bowen Chinese Language School, Myanmar’s National University of Arts and Culture, and the CFRD Smiling Children Program School in Hlaingthayar Township. The program showcased a vibrant mix of Chinese traditional and modern songs, Myanmar classical music, and a puppet show.
Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Li Qianguo; Daw Cho Cho Myat Aung, Director of Yangon Education and Education Bureau; U Kyi Shwin, President of Yangon Foreign Languages University; Li Fuquan, President Wang Lei, Director of the China Foundation for Peace and Development; Xie Minggui, President of the Yunnan Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, and many representatives from China-Myanmar associations, parents, and invited guests attended the event.
The event held at the National Theatre in Yangon was a heartwarming cultural exchange between Myanmar and China. The participating students showcased the grandeur and richness of the cultural heritage of both countries, demonstrating their appreciation and respect for these intangible cultural treasures.
Such events play a vital role in fostering close bonds and lasting friendships between nations, ensuring they are passed down from generation to generation.
At present, China's Spring Festival and Myanmar's Thingyan Water Festival are recognized as UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage celebrations. The Spring Festival is regarded by the Chinese as a symbol of peace, friendship, and harmony.
