Russia celebrates 80th Victory Day with grand ceremony in Yangon

Yangon, May 9 – Russia commemorated the 80th Victory Day with a ceremonial reception held at the Lotte Hotel in Yangon from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The event, marking the end of World War II and honoring the sacrifices made by the Soviet Union, was hosted by the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, AZIZOV Iskander Kubarovich.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Vice Senior General Soe Win, who joined other high-ranking Myanmar officials, leaders of political parties, members of the diplomatic corps, and prominent figures from the business community.

The event featured speeches highlighting the historical significance of Victory Day and reaffirming the longstanding ties between Russia and Myanmar. Attendees observed a moment of remembrance for those who perished during the war, followed by a reception showcasing Russian culture and cuisine.

The 80th anniversary of Victory Day serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of the Allied victory in 1945, and the continued diplomatic engagement between Russia and Myanmar.
