2025–2026 academic year for basic education schools kicks off

Today (June 2), high school, middle school, and elementary schools under the Department of Basic Education have begun to reopen nationwide.
Students are being accepted for enrollment for the 2025–2026 academic year starting May 22.
The Ministry of Education has announced that the enrollment period is from May 22 to June 1, with five-year-old children being enrolled in Kindergarten (KG) and six-year-old children being enrolled in Grade 1.
It was reported that over 1.2 million students enrolled on the first day of the school enrollment period.
The Ministry of Education says that there is no fee for enrolling in school and that students are provided with free textbooks, stationery, and school uniforms.
In addition, school principals, teachers, and all staff are required to strictly adhere to the following guidelines: they must not collect or accept any fees, must not receive any money or gifts, and are prohibited from selling class badges, school badges, or any other items.
As of June 1, for the 2024–2025 academic year, a total of 6,275,691 students had enrolled in basic education schools, private schools, and monastic schools across various regions and states.
