US embassy in Yangon worries for its citizens from PDF’s call for violence

The U.S Embassy in Yangon issued an alert notification on July 27 to its citizens living in the city to be aware of the potential violent threats against the government throughout the country, especially in Yangon.
“It is strongly recommended to stay away from security forces and prepare for targeted assassinations and IED attacks against known regime sympathizers and security personnel. Although there is no specific threat against foreigners, the threat of being in the wrong place at the wrong time is a primary concern, especially since the calls for violence are from People’s Defense Forces (PDF) based throughout the city,” the notification expresses.
The alert statement continued, “All are reminded that attacks can happen anywhere at any time.”
The statement urged its citizens in the city to stay tune and alert for a week with necessary foods and medicines in case of potential lockdown or the violent movement become more dangerous.
