Myanmar-Russia tie significantly blossoms

The Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has made his next trip to Russia to attend the 7th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) as invited by Russia.

This time visit remarks the fourth top-level trip between the two nations within two months.

The 7th EEF will be held in Vladivostok from September 5-8.

The Army Chief will also be meeting with Russian leaders during his visit; bilateral cooperation on strengthening the two countries' ties and enhancing economic, military, and other sectors will be discussed, the State Administration Council announced.

This year's key topic of the EEF will involve discussing on development of the Far East and Russia in new economic and geopolitical conditions and the new format of interaction among countries in the multi-polar world, the Indian Outlook media stated.

During the visit of Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to Russia in July 2022, he discussed cooperation and enhancing bilateral trades, export/import, and defense sectors.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov conducted a formal visit to Naypyidaw in early August before his trip to the ASEAN meeting.

Myanmar’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win went to Russia in the last week of August to attend the closing ceremony of the International Army Games, in which, the Myanmar military team attained first prizes in group competitions.

Russia-Myanmar tie has been increasingly developed in many sectors including nuclear energy and cultural exchanges.
