A male reporter of a local news outlet and his wife were shot in Kyaikto township, Mon State. The wife died at the scene, according to the Myanmar Police Forces.
The reporter is Aye Lwin from ‘Khit Pon Yeik Journal’.
The couple was attacked and shot on September 25 at an estimated 2:00 pm by four terrorists while they were at home.
Four terrorists came by car and asked for Aye Lwin; then, shot. Aye Lwin escaped but his wife was hit by four gunshots and died on the spot.
Khit Pon Yeik reporter Aye Lwin frequently attended State Administration Council’s press conferences. His home was attacked by bombs twice in August and September 2021, Khit Pon Yeik Chief Editor said.
“Although we are journalists, the opposite group accused us of pro-military or military supporters. We have been threatened. His home was attacked by bombs twice in 2021, in August and in September. Now he has been assassinated. His wife died in the incident. He is now at the hospital,” Chief Editor Soe Win told NP News.
Bona fide journalists and news outlets have been threatened frequently by the revolutionists in Myanmar after the 2021 political transition. Pro-revolutionary so-called journalists and news outlets support belligerent terror acts of the NUG-installed PDFs.
Thousands of Myanmar citizens have already died in the clashes, armed clashes, and violence that happened after the 2021 political transition.
