Sniper kills police officer who works for on-ground population verification

A junior police officer who was involved as a member of the team that conducts the on-ground population verification project was killed by a sniper in Hakha Township, Chin State on January 13 at an estimated 10 am, according to the press release announced by the State Administration Council.

The junior police officer is identified as police sub-lieutenant Zin Min.

The project of inspecting #on_ground_population_statistics for the voter lists has been commenced on January 9 across the country. As per the information, it has been seven times within five days that terrorist acts against those who work for the on-ground population verification project across the country.

On the first day on January 9, police sub-lieutenant Thein Htike from Maungmagan Police Department who was involved in the team as a member was shot at a close range and dead in Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region.

What is more, public properties and official documents from the Immigration Departments from different places throughout the country were destroyed by the terrorists for the sake of prohibiting taking the on-ground population statistics.

On January 9, approximately 20 members of terrorists destroyed and torched office copies, records, and documents from Salingyi Township Immigration Department in Sagaing, according to the information released by the State Administration Council.

On January 11, the joint forces of KNU insurgents and #PDF #terrorists attacked the team collecting the on-ground population statistics in Migalon Village, Kawkareik Township in Kayin State. Then, the joint forces of KNU/PDF terrorists set ablaze a total of 524 sheets of e-ID household registration forms; 60 sheets of household registration forms; and 50 sheets of PWD forms.

Therefore, it has been seven times within five days that the terrorist PDFs commit terror shootings against the on-ground verification teams; bombing and incinerating the Immigration Department offices, documents, and records in different places, according to the information released by the SAC.
