NP News – June 8
It is reported that the United Arab Emirates orders 500 tons of ripe tamarinds from Myanmar monthly by sea route.
Dubai based Hermab Group Company from the UAE has ordered tamarind from Myanmar through the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
One of the export/import traders from the UMFCCI told NP News that “Myanmar tamarind is usually exported to Thailand, China and Bangladesh through border trade channels. They are also exported to Singapore and Pakistan by sea. Pakistan used to the biggest buyer for Myanmar tamarind. Now we can add the UAE in the purchaser list for the Myanmar tamarind.”
Up to now, Pakistan is the major country that imports Myanmar tamarind with 500 ton of tamarind. Now, since the UAE orders 500 tons of tamarind from Myanmar, it becomes the second country that buys tamarind the most.
Price of the ripe tamarind with seeds for a ton in the international market ranges between 400 USD and 600 USD depending on the quality.
