The event was held on August 14 at the MPF (Insein) attended by the Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The MPF produces bivalent freeze-dried hemorrhagic (FH) anti-venom since it is difficult to distinguish whether the victim was bitten by Viper or Cobra.
As a matter of fact, there are many snake bite casualties in Sagaing, Bago, Magway, Central Myanmar and Ayeyarwady Region.
Since Myanmar has electricity shortage problem and some rural areas even cannot access the electricity, the MPF produces the anti-venom drug in freeze-dried type for having longer shelf-life.
On August 14, BPI Pharmaceutical Museum (BPI for Burma Pharmaceutical Industry) was also opened under the Ministry of Industry.
Myanmar mostly imports pharmaceutical products and medicines every year since internal manufacturing isn’t enough for the treatment. Therefore, the pharmaceutical factories try to increase manufacturing domestically but raw materials have still to be imported.
