Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae addressed it during the Central Body for Suppression of Trafficking in Persons held in Naypyidaw on 11th September.
He said that Myanmar has been facing forced labour in cheating and frauds via online platforms which usually involve foreigners. Therefore, it is needed to pay attention to address and take careful action on these offenses.
Moreover, they are also deporting many foreigners to their respective countries who had crossed borders facing many challenges.
Lt-Gen Yar Pyae also addressed that Myanmar has been working together with INTERPOL and AFRIPOL in combating human trafficking and human smuggling.
The Minister also disclosed that as part of the operation, online scams, frauds, and deceptive activities were seized through various online platforms.
He urged that "In relation to human trafficking, efforts to combat human trafficking should be a significant focus in the forthcoming 2024 project in addition to preventive measures."
