Ex-Mayor of Mandalay, ex-member of Mandalay municipal committee released in amnesty

Former mayor of Mandalay Dr. Ye Lwin and the former member of the Mandalay City Development Committee U Kyaw Zeya were released yesterday in the Independence Day Amnesty, as reported by the reliable source.
Dr. Ye Lwin and U Kyaw Zeya were sentenced two years imprisonment under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code in December 2021. Another two years imprison terms were sentenced for both of them under Section 409 of the Penal Code in February 2023.
“Yes, it was. Both Dr. Ye Lwin and U Kyaw Zaya were pardoned today,” a source close to them told NP News.
The State Administration Council pardoned a total of 9,652 prisoners of both genders and 114 foreigners for honouring the 76th Independence Day.
