A local civic group who claims themselves as “Public Voice Disclosing Network” held a talk in Yangon in few weeks ago which mainly discussed United States hegemony affecting Myanmar.

The event was organized by four nationalist activists: Zaw Zaw Aung, Pyi Thein, Nanda Ye Thu and Ko Thant.

The organizers presented individually highlighting the hegemonic attempts of the United States globally.

The organizers claimed that the real agenda of the United States is influencing and ruling the world by intervening in other countries’ internal affairs under titles of the democracy and human rights. Likewise, the event messaged that Myanmar’s internal affairs and democratic path have been interfered and derailed by the involvement of the US.

One of the organizers presented, “It has been more than 70 years that conflicts are being flamed. Myanmar’s road to democracy has been distorted due to the external intervention. The US increases sanctions against Myanmar; assists financial and technical aid to the terrorist organizations instigating battles and armed conflicts across the country; and urging to ruin the peace by varieties of approaches systematically.”

He also claimed that so-called NGOs, news agencies and armed forces gained millions of US dollars from the United States to unstable Myanmar. The colour revolution exported by the organizations like National Endowment for Democracy promotes contaminating the countries’ internal affairs globally; Myanmar was the victim of those colour revolutions in 2007.

The event continued discussing that Myanmar’s democratic transition has been infected by the American’s attempt to elect pro-American government and China Containment Policy.

An organizer also said, “Thai is a good neighbour to Myanmar. However, various mercenaries who take shelters in Thai-Myanmar border taking money from the US ruin the wellbeing of both countries. Thus, we hereby call for the governments of both Thailand and Myanmar to terminate those west-puppets.”

Lastly, the event demanded with slogans: ‘Stop supporting Terrorists’, ‘Sanctions kill people not military’, ‘Down the US neocolonialism’, ‘We need peace and prosperous Myanmar, Not war’, and ‘Let Myanmar solve our own issues’.
