Tatmadaw regains full control of Myawady City refunctioning all trade mechanisms

Myanmar Tatmadaw has regained a full control of Light Infantry Brigade-275 in Myawady Town on 23 April and therefore, all trade mechanisms in Myawady border post along the Myawady-Kawkareik channel, according to Major General Zaw Min Tun, the spokesperson of the State Administration Council (SAC).

Major General Zaw Min Tun addressed it in his media briefing on 27 April.

“After raiding Myawady Town by the KNU and PDF terrorists, we regain the control of Light Infantry Brigade-275 on 23 April in Myawady. We are also developing the security of Myawady and along the road of Myawady-Kawkareik to get the trade channel as normal. On this route, the clashes are still occurring,” Major General said.

On 19 April, KNLA and PDF forces carried out drone attacks against the Tatmadaw near Bridge No. 2 in Myawady Township, Kayin State. In the hostilities, intense armed confrontations ensued between the Tatmadaw and the combined KNU and PDF terrorist group until the evening of 20 April. Additionally, Tatmadaw’s Air Forces also assisted with air defense.

Due to those clashes, thousands of Myawady residents have to flee to Thailand through the border to avoid the war. According to the current stable of the territory, some residents have begun returning to the township.
