NP News - July 30
On 3 July, the Kokang armed group MNDAA started initiating military assaults on the areas surrounding Lashio Town. Since then, at least 30 persons involving minors have been killed and 55 others were wounded in the attacks launched by the MNDAA with launchers, rockets, and drone bombs, the spokesperson of the State Administration Council Major General Zaw Min Tun stated on 26 July.
The figure is as per the reported data; thus, there might be more beyond the reach of reports.
“They launched subjecting the soft-targets rather than the military targets in Lashio with launchers and drone bombs. Many infrastructures including roads and bridges, hospitals, religious sites, and residential houses were destroyed. Only in Lashio, a total of 30 citizens including children were killed and 55 others were injured, as per the figures we can collect, in their military assaults,” said Major General Zaw Min Tun.
Many people from the conflict towns and cities left the towns and are heading to other big cities such as Mandalay, PyinOoLwin, and Taunggyi since the MNDAA, TNLA, AA, and the PDF terrorists are attacking residential wards and the urban areas.
The spokesperson also stated that the insurgents (MNDAAs, TNLAs, and PDFs) lost many troop members in the recent battles in Lashio, Kyaukme, and Nawngkio with many fatalities; some troops of them ran away from the battlefields. Therefore, they forced the citizens from the towns they had seized including elders and children to serve in their military.
