Local social aid organizations reported that floods have impacted at least ten cities, including Naypyidaw, and residents are in urgent need of assistance.

Heavy rainfall and rising river levels have caused flooding in Naypyidaw since Wednesday, according to reports.

"Many areas are currently facing severe flood; rescue and relief efforts are still underway," a spokesperson from a local aid organization told NP News.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has stated that the intense rainfall in the Naypyidaw region and the eastern highlands is a result of Typhoon Yagi's rapid movement. As a result, water levels are increasing in Ngalaik Creek, Sinthe Creek, and Paunglaung River.

Additionally, heavy rains have led to flooding in various locations including the Naypyidaw Council Territory, Magyipin Village, Lepanpu Village, Paintaw Village, Tharak Kone Village, Shoukone Village, Nyaungone Village, Nyang Lun, Anawyahtar Ward, Bayinnaung Ward, Shwemantaw Ward, as well as hospitals and nursing homes in Tatkone Township.

Likewise, in late August, Naypyidaw faced severe rainfall that caused water levels in Ngalaik Creek to rise and resulted in downstream flooding, impacting five townships.

According to information gathered by NP News, heavy rainfall, rising river levels, and downstream flooding caused by the intensity of Typhoon Yagi have led to severe flooding in several cities, including Kyaikto, Pyinmana, Tatkone, Patheingyi, Yamethin, Myawaddy, Kyaingtong, Hopong, Taunggyi, Pyawbwe, Tachileik, Shwenyaung, Kalaw and Thayarwaddy.

At present, due to widespread flooding across regions and states, some residents in low-lying homes are trapped, and they are waiting for the rescue teams.

According to the report released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, flood impacted approximately 393,000 people across the country in August.
