Buddhist Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Sobhita (Venerable IBEC Sayadaw), Principal of the International Buddhist Education Centre and Stockholm World Peace Prize Holder, announced his intention to address the International Peace Conference in South Korea. In his speech, he will emphasize that armed conflicts are not the path to achieving democracy and federalism.
It has been reported that IBEC Sayadaw has received a special invitation from the Private Public Diplomatic Organization – Korea World Peace Committee (WPC), based in Seoul, South Korea, to speak at the fourth World Peace Conference, an international event dedicated to promoting peace.
Therefore, Sayadaw will deliver a speech on the Myanmar crisis at the conference held at the Stay Songdo Hotel in Incheon, South Korea, from October 21 to 25.
IBEC Sayadaw Ashin Sobhita stated, “I will discuss the impact of Myanmar's armed conflict on civilians, government personnel, children, and youth. The conflict, driven by the egotism of certain individuals, is the root cause of the disregard for human lives. I will explain that these issues arise not because of the people's actions, but as a direct result of the conflict. Additionally, I intend to emphasize that lasting peace, democracy, and federalism cannot be achieved under such conditions.”
Regarding the Myanmar conflict, Sayadaw stated, 'The situation is not solely caused by the military, the NLD, the NUG, or the ethnic armed groups. The global understanding is that the conflict is primarily driven by human ego and a lack of wisdom.
