Myanmar’s neighbouring countries, especially China and India, actively engage in resolving political and military dilemma of the country, and the engagements are projected to be effective, Dr. Aye Maung, Chairman of the Arakan Front Party (AFP) made a remark.
"This is currently the period of the transitional government. The SAC government has been in power for about 3 years and 8 or 9 months. With the general election scheduled for 2025, a change of government is likely to take place within that year. Over the past years, the country has faced political and military conflicts, as well as tensions in northern Shan State. However, following the visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Myanmar, the level of cooperation with neighboring countries within Myanmar's political landscape has been increasing," Dr. Aye Maung explained in an interview.
The SAC chairman's visit to China is a prominent example of this. Additionally, prior to this visit, a delegation from Myanmar, including representatives from political parties, the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), and the Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR), traveled to India for a lecture on federalism and constitutionalism. This also highlights the involvement of Myanmar's neighbouring countries in its political affairs.
The attendees include representatives from political parties such as the Union Solidarity and Development Party, National Democratic Force, People’s Pioneer Party, People’s Party, AFP, and Naga Party, as well as seven Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), NSPNC, and the CPR. Dr. Aye Maung, representing the AFP, is one of the participants.
"China will also lend its support to ensure political stability and peace in Myanmar. Efforts are being made by all parties, including China and India, to bring an end to armed conflict and to achieve national stability and peace. All sectors involved in this process are crucial to consider when shaping the future of Myanmar,” as Dr. Aye Maung commented on the support provided by neighbouring countries towards Myanmar's situation.
