Traditional Thanakha beauty contest to be held year

The festival organizing committee stated that the first-ever traditional Thanakha beauty contest will be held in Myanmar.
The competition will be held from March 8 to 14 at the parking lot on Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda Road, Bago Region, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and anyone can participate.
The competition will also include a traditional sports and cultural heritage preservation organization market and fun activities.
The traditional Thanakha beauty contest will be judged by famous artists along with judges, and national celebrities, national comedians, and culture lovers will also attend.
In addition, there will be musical performances by famous national artists and famous DJs will also perform.
The Myanmar traditional Thingyan festival was included in the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List for the first time last year (2024), and now the Myanmar traditional Thanaka ritual will be submitted to UNESCO next March.
The Myanmar Thanakha culture was submitted for inclusion in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2020, but UNESCO had to re-submit it due to certain requirements. To support the submission, efforts are being made to conduct a public opinion survey on Thanakha, commemorative activities, and a Thanakha festival for all ethnic groups.
The full moon day of Tabodwe has been designated as Myanmar Thanakha Day.
