Post-earthquake temporary ceasefire extended until end of April

The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services announced on April 22 that the temporary ceasefire after the earthquake-struck situation has been extended from April 23 to 30.
Primarily, Tatmadaw announced the temporary ceasefire from April 2 to 22, 2025, to carry out rescue and relief work for the victims of the Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28.
Currently, the government is continuing to carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation work in the earthquake-affected areas, while international organizations are also sending relief teams and medical teams to provide necessary assistance and provide supplies.
During the rehabilitation process, efforts must be made to rebuild damaged government offices, people's homes and roads, and to promote manufacturing activities. The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services said that with the collective efforts of all the people, normal conditions can be reached as soon as possible.
Therefore, in order for the State to continue the rehabilitation work in the earthquake-affected areas at a rapid pace, to further advance the interests of the State and all citizens, to achieve peace and stability, the Tatmadaw has announced that it has extended the period from 23 to 30 April 2025 as a temporary ceasefire period.
During this period, ethnic armed groups and other armed groups are prohibited from disrupting and damaging communication lines, causing damage to the lives and property of the public, attacking security forces’ camps, disrupting and attacking army headquarters, and mobilizing forces, organizing groups, and expanding territory that would undermine peace, and if they do so, necessary countermeasures will be taken.
