Phyo/Peral (NP News) - August 4
It is reported that in the 14 days from July 17 to 30, up to 130 people from the TNLA (Ta'ang National Liberation Army), DPLA (Danu People's Liberaton Army), MDY-PDF, and Shan PDF groups have defected to the Tatmadaw.
In addition, the State Administration Council (SAC) and the Tatmadaw have been inviting armed groups, including the PDF, to work together for the benefit of the country through text messages since the evening of July 30.
According to the link included in the text message, it is stated that although efforts to resolve political issues through armed struggle have continued for over 70 years, they have not produced meaningful results, and the country’s development has significantly lagged behind.
Armed groups, including the PDF, are urged to consider the consequences of ongoing conflict such as the lack of peace and stability in their regions, the suffering endured by their families and communities, and the damage to their socio-economic well-being and future.
It is noted that peace and comprehensive regional development, including improvements in education and healthcare, are key priorities. In order to fully participate in the electoral process, armed groups including the PDF are encouraged to transform into legal entities within the framework of democracy and federalism.
If they choose to operate within the legal framework and cooperate with the state government and the Tatmadaw to advance the interests of the nation and their regions, they will be welcomed by both the government and the military. Those interested in pursuing this path are invited to contact nearby military bases or local authorities for further coordination. –
