UN envoy discussed with Myanmar Army Chief on pragmatic steps to end crisis

Special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General Noeleen Heyzer addressed in person for the pragmatic steps to de-escalate the violence within the country, according to the statement released by the UN.
The UN envoy met with State Administration Council’s Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday (August 17) at an estimated 2 pm in Naypyidaw after she met with the country’s high rank diplomat Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin in the morning.
Ms. Noeleen Heyzer also highlighted to provide humanitarian assistance to all people in need; to meet with stakeholders from political, civil society sectors, and the communities affected by the conflict.
The UN’s statement expresses, “any progress in Myanmar depended on an end to the violence and visible and significant improvements in the lives of people on the ground.”
Foreign Minister Wunna Maung Lwin stressed for the UN to constructively and pragmatically review its approach in cooperation with Myanmar. He also explained the information on current developments in Myanmar, according to the statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The UN envoy also asked the Myanmar’s de’ facto leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing for the release of Australian Sean Turnell as per request of the Australian government. However, Sean Turnell is charged for violating the country’s official secrets law and the country's immigration law.
On the other hand, Myanmar’s academics assumed him as one of the ‘economic hit men’ that external infltration into the country's insight issues.
