Torrential rain in Pauk, Magwe leaves record flood

Rivers in Magwe Region including Pauk river, Cincer river and Kyathaik river increased in water level after heavy rain and therefore the whole city of Pauk experienced record flood.
The heavy rainfall between at an estimated 6 am to 8:30 am yesterday (September 30) covered the town under flood, an official from Pauk township Fire Services Department told NP News.
“Flood occurs almost the whole town. It was a heavy and torrent rain in a sudden. Water level in all rivers surrounding the town: Pauk river, Cincer river and Kyathaik river was getting high,” the officer said.
“Rain started at an estimated 6 am until 8:30 am. It was a turbulent flow. Flood occurred twice in previous days. This time is getting worse. Our rescue teams saved elders and children in the wards and school-children who were trapped in the schools. Some were waiting on the roofs shouting and asking for help,” he continued.
City development committee office and the city stadium which are located in the lowland areas of Pauk experienced severe flood.
The flood in Pauk lasted only a few hours. In fact, the water level declined at an estimated 2 pm, according to Pauk township Fire Services Department.
