A truck with pilgrims to mount #Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Golden Rock) exploded as it was hit by the 40 MM launcher in which at least one died and eight others were wounded as of 4 pm.

The incident happened today (January 25) on the bank of the Yangon-Mawlamyaing expressway near Moatpalin Village, Kyaikhto Township in Mon State.

“One of the wounded persons in the incident is currently in a critical situation,” an official from Mon State Government told NP News. The injured persons are provided medical treatment at Kyaikhto Hospital.

As per information, the artillery shell struck the roof of the truck and the truck exploded.

In the incident, five women and three men were wounded. One man died at the scene, report says.

The subjected pilgrims came to the Golden Rock from Central Myanmar via Yangon.

A doctor from Kyaikhto Hospital said, “Seven of them are being provided treatment in the intensive care unit. We wish to end such terror incidents. We pray for our country to return peace as soon as possible.”

In October 2022, a deadly shooting occurred at the base camp of Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda targeting the civilian pilgrims by non-State insurgents and #PDF terrorists' allied forces.
