UEC announces that political parties can register commencing on Feb 1

The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced on January 31 that they are accepting registration applications from the political parties as per the bylaws for the #Political_Parties_Registration_Law.
The State Administration Council (SAC) enacted the Political Parties Registration Law on January 26.
According to the UEC’s notification 10/2023, the political parties can submit registration forms commencing on Feb 1 as per the laws, bylaws, and rules and regulations.
The existing parties according to Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law shall submit for renewing registration as per the laws, bylaws, and rules and regulations.
The Union level party must have at least 100,000 members within 90 days starting from the date of registration. The Union level party shall deposit Ks. 100 million as the party fund at the Myanma Economic Bank; and has to open at least half of the townships across the entire Union within 180 days after granting of registration as a political party; it means the national level parties will have to open offices in at least 165 townships since Myanmar has 330 townships nationwide.
For the regional level parties, they will have to have at least 1,000 members within 90 days; deposit Ks. 10 million as the party fund at the MEB; and has to open at least five offices in their respective region/state.
