UEC expects to exercise e-voting system that isn’t relied on internet, electricity

The Union Election Commission (UEC) informed that the #Myanmar_Electronic_Voting_Machine (MEVM) that isn’t relied on internet and electricity is being prepared for the upcoming election.
The UEC released the information on February 21.
The MEVM is expected to be less adverse problems including voting fraud, invalid votes and missing ballots.
The traditional voting method costed a lot since millions of ballots had to be printed out for over 40,000 of polling station; and ballot box, toast stamp and others related equipment. Although the initial developing cost will be high, the MEVM can be used again and again in the next elections.
The UEC also said that, in the tradition vote casting system, after vote casting process is finished, the presiding officers and poll clerks have to take time for counting vote results. If in the machine, the result will be out as soon as the voting is over.
All the voter needs to do is just pressing the button. Additionally, the voter can check the vote he has pressed.
The MEVM currently being developed by the commission is not connected to the Internet or any other network, so it is clear that it will not be possible to falsify the voting results by using computer technology and conducting external attacks. The MEVM can be arranged in any location since it doesn’t depend on electricity.
