Myanmar willing to cooperate investors from Chongqing for MSME development

Introduction of China (Chongqing region/Bishan District) – Myanmar Business Cooperation was held on March 22 at Lotte Hotel in Yangon.

The event was convened to promote diverse business sectors in both Myanmar and China by exchanging opportunities, especially to help investments in Myanmar’s hotel and tourism, industrial sector, health and agriculture; expand the bilateral trade routes.

According to the introductory seminar, direct flight operation between Chongqing and Yangon is expected to launch in the soonest time. Plus, cultural exchange is another priority for both countries in enhancing social and economic developments.

Officials, business representatives, and stakeholders from Myanmar and China, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and Myanmar-China Business Association attended the event.

Mr. Zhang Chuan, the Deputy District Mayor of People’s Government of Bishan District, Chongqing reportedly led the yesterday’s event. Many business entrepreneurs from Chongqing also attended.

As per the seminar, Myanmar officials revealed and appreciated the potential investments and business cooperation from #Chongqing region of China to promote and accelerate the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector.

The Deputy Director-General of the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA), Min Zaw Oo, stated that “China is the second largest investors for Myanmar in an aspect of direct investment. There are a total of 583 investments from China companies officially allowed to operate.”

Many MSME progresses in Myanmar were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the impacts of the 2021 political transition. After three years struggles, the Southeast Asian country, one of the members of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, Myanmar is expecting to re-boost the country’s economy.
