Security outpost in Thathon attacked leaving two injured

The security outpost at the Dome Tha Mi Bridge in Thathon Township in Mon State was attacked by non-state armed troops. During the attack two injured and two cars burnt down.

"On 1st June early morning at an estimated 6 am, there was an armed attack at the Dome Tha Mi Bridge in Thatthon Township” a reliable source from Mon State Government confirmed to NP News.

The source said that approximately 200 armed forces marched from Kawt Pa Naw Village in Kayin State and initiated the attack at the security outpost a the Dome Tha Mi Bridge with heavy weapons.

He said “With the heavy weapons, they attacked from the side of Kawt Pa Naw village in Kayin State. The security forces also shot back. Therefore, there is a crossfire. I think there are about altogether 200 militants. They use heavy weapons. Form this side, the security forces, there are both soldiers and police forces but few. After the crossfire, the terrorist militants withdrew.

During the crossfires, two security forces were minorly injured.

“Two civilian vehicles were burnt down during the armed clashes” the news resource continued.

He added that one vehicle at the Kayin side and another vehicle near the security outpost were burnt down. During the fire exchange, these cars were trapped. Fortunately, the drivers who abandoned the vehicles escaped. The cars from both sides were burnt down.

According to local news, some of the infrastructures were also destroyed during the crossfire.
