Over 3,200 electric vehicles applied for registration at Road Transport Administration Department

There are more than 3,200 electric vehicles in various types that registered at the Road Transport Administration Department within 2023 June, according to the statistics from regional departments under the Road Transport Administration Department.

According to the statistics from the department, there are a total of 467 electric passenger vehicles, two light truck EVs, 2474 two-wheeled EVs and 263 three-wheeled EVs that applied for the registration at the department at the time being.

Passenger electric vehicles include saloons, station wagons, microbuses with passenger loading capacity with 15 seats, light vans, jeeps, double cabs, and light cargo vehicles such as pickups, single cabs, light trucks, vans and trucks with a carrying capacity of three tons and less than three tons.

Two-wheeled vehicles include motorized bicycles, mopeds, scooters, ordinary two-wheeled motorcycles, electric motorcycles, and three-wheeled motorcycles, electric three-wheeled motorcycles, and three-wheeled vehicles are also registered.

National Steering Committee for Development of Electric Vehicle was organized by the State Administration Council (SAC) last year in June for development of the EV sector.

Currently, the authorities have reduced the taxation schemes for the Battery Electric Vehicles with Complete Built-Up, Completely Knocked Down, and Semi Knocked Down systems to zero percent in the Custom Tariff of Myanmar List 2022.
