
The Commercial Officer of the airline, Mr. Tanes Kumar N Maniam informed it during the interview with NP News at the MAI 30th Anniversary held on August 15.
The MAI is also planning to operate the direct flight via Mandalay-Yangon-Mandalay-Novosibirsk in coming September 2023.
“MAI has already made an announcement that we will fly direct from Mandalay and Yangon to Mandalay and then onward to Novosibirsk and that would be effective 5th of September 2023 which is very soon. So, we have done all the preparations. We are pretty much 90% there. We have gotten all the conditions and agents in Russia. We also have appointed the cargo sales agency and we are trying to promote this route. And we may fly to another point in the Middle East as well as another point in Northeast Asia. So this is our overall plan,” Mr. Tanes Kumar N Maniam said.
Similarly, the route will also expend to China.
“We also always will not forget about China when things are more conducive. We will definitely relaunch all our flights back to China,” Mr. Tanes Kumar N Maniam added.
At present, MAI is running 14 routes including routes to China, Korea and India basing Yangon and Mandalay with a total of 15 flights.
“We have launched the most new routes. We have increased the most frequency. Bangkok 7 times a day, Kuala Lumpur 2 times a day, Singapore 2 times a day, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Phuket, Phnom Penh and Chennai,” he continued.
In addition, the airline also operates charter flights, and plans to expand the number of aircraft to 25 to regular domestic and international flights in 2024-25.
