8 ASEAN nations attend ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference hosted by Myanmar

Except Indonesia and Malaysia, all ASEAN members attend the 20th ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (AACC) hosted by Myanmar.

The 20th AACC meeting was held at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC) in Naypyidaw on September 13, as per the statement released by the State Administration Council (SAC).

Mohammad Sharif bin Ibrahim (Malay: Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Ibrahim) from Royal Brunei Air Force, Gen. Soeung Samnang from Royal Cambodian Air Force, Brig. Gen. Khamlek Sengphachanh for Lao People’s Liberation Army Air Force, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF), Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Alongkorn Vannarot and Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Hien for Vietnam People’s Air Force attended the conference.

Also, Air Chiefs from the Philippines and Singapore attended the conference via video online, according to the SAC’s statement.

During the AACC meeting, the issues related to the title of “ASEAN Air Forces’ Cooperation for Sustainable Environment” were discussed and the consensuses submitted by the member countries were also signed.

In addition, Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Htun Aung handed over the presidential duties of the 21st AACC to Gen. Soeung Samnang from the Royal Cambodian Air Force during the conference.

The Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar’s Air Force, General Htun Aung held the exclusive meeting with the Air Chiefs from Brunei, Cambodia, Lao, Thailand, and Vietnam 20th AACC, the SAC said.

Myanmar rehosted the 20th AACC after 9 years after the 11th AACC held in 2024.
