Myanmar’s Golden Rock expected to host many visitors this Thidingyut vacation

According to the Chairman of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda’s Trustees, Soe Hla, it is expected that there will be more pilgrims and travelers to the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda for the very closing Thidingyut season.

There were few travelers in previous seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Buddha Pujaniya festival of Kyaiktiyo Pagoda will be convened for seven months from October 29 to Kason Full Moon Day as per traditions.

“We will invite monks to conduct watering, lighting, and chanting Buddha’s teachings as usual at the square and there are also plans to pay homage to the guardians of forest and mountain,” the pagoda trustee said.

In addition, the transportation for the pilgrims and travelers are planned by side roads for walking, express ways and cable lines. At present, all transportation channels have been rechecked to use.

“We prepared to have a safe security and accommodations for the visitors. We all expects an increasing number of travelers will be coming this year although there were few in previous seasons due to the Covid-19 and political situations,” Soe Hla said.

There has been over 170,000 of tourists and domestic travelers within 10 months this year.

There was a disturbance attack by terrorist group targeting the pilgrims on 12 October 2022 at Kin Pun Chaung gate which killed and injured travelers.
