Many flocks of travelers visit Yangon Zoological Garden in daily basis

An official from the Yangon Zoological Garden U Than Myint Tun reported that over a thousand travelers visit the Yangon Zoological Garden in a daily basis on the weekdays while the number goes a peak up to three to five thousand in the weekends.

The 118th anniversary of the Yangon Zoological Garden has been kicked off on 25 January. The four-day event, from 25 to 28 January, is scheduled to be held lively with the festivities of music band and dance performance and magic show to entertain the visitors. The travelers will also have opportunities to take photos with tame animals, game programs for the children, quiz shows, and the market fairs.

As a special feature of yesterday’s event, the Yangon Zoological Garden gifted 118 individuals from the queue of those who entered the zoo for honouring the 118th anniversary of it.

For feeding the animals, U Than Myint Tun said, “Foods we arranged here are truly enough for the animals. Foods are divided into three groups and delivered to 58 houses daily by calculating the required nutrition facts for the respective animal.”

In the Zoological Garden, there are a total of 1,065 animals of 135 species, comprising 49 species of 465 mammals, 68 species of 427 birds, and 18 species of 183 reptiles on 58.16 acres of lands located in Mingalar Taungnyut Township.

Moreover, there are keepers and they make training and conservation on the animals including rare species daily.

U Than Myint Tun also continued that there are animal exchange plans to add more species connecting with foreign countries to extend the displaying capacity of the zoo.

The entrance fees are set at 2,500 kyats for adults and 1,500 kyats for children.
