It is reported that the outcome of the Rakhine State crisis is likely to be announced soon after the AA's defeat in Kyaukphyu, according to sources interviewed by the Statesman.
According to the information provided, the AA has been gradually infiltrating Kyaukphyu Township and fighting has broken out, but the Tatmadaw has gained the upper hand and the AA is currently facing a shortage of weapons and ammunition.
The Tatmadaw was able to provide good logistics, while the AA suffered due to advanced attacks.
“There are no more AA's camps. They are hiding among the displaced people. There is no AA camp for Tatmadaw to attack and seize in Kyaukphyu. Tatmadaw will be able to take security measures carefully to avoid being ambushed,” said a person familiar with the situation on the ground.
He also stated that the morale within the AA is declining, and that the Tatmadaw is far superior in terms of its ability to provide logistics and support during the battle.
“The AA also sees a gradual decline in public support. Tatmadaw can send food packs to the front-line units from their base for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They can also use large and small vehicles to transport ammunition and evacuate patients quickly. They can move freely in the territory they control. The AA side has to carry out administrative tasks secretly at night. Even so, they cannot get enough ammunition and food. For example, if a soldier is injured, Tatmadaw can send him to Kyaukphyu Hospital, and if necessary, on to Mingalardon Hospital in Yangon. The AA side has many limitations regarding hospitals, doctors, and medicines. During the period of technological warfare, Tatmadaw can effectively provide enough jammers, generators, and fuel to the front-line units. How can the enemy side compare to that?” he said.
Another source said that the AA suffered heavy casualties during the fighting in Rakhine State and that Tatmadaw (Navy) warships were monitoring the situation along the Rakhine coast.
“The navy is monitoring the entire Rakhine coast in Sittwe, Buthidaung, and Maungdaw. The military strategy for the counter-offensive mainly involves the use of drones, so it is the same as other areas of operation. The rainy season will end soon, so it is expected that Tatmadaw will be able to launch more offensive attacks in the open season,” he said.
The Union Election Commission has announced that elections will not be held in 10 townships in Rakhine State, but it has not included Ann, Toungup, Thandwe, and Gwa, which are under AA control, in the list. It remains to be seen how these townships will be treated.
On the other hand, the Tatmadaw, not only has improved its drone capabilities, but is also carrying out other upgrades, and according to inquiries, it is in a capable position to shift from defensive to offensive combat. –
