Pakokku Hluttaw candidate taken by PDF amid election period

It is learned that in Pakokku Township, Magway Region, a Hluttaw candidate from the White Tiger Party was abducted by a PDF group.
It is reported that on November 29 at around 3 pm, U Wai Lin Htet (age 37), a Hluttaw candidate from the Shan Nationalities Democratic Party (White Tiger Party) living in Aye Kyun Village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region, was at home with his family when three PDFs (under investigation) arrived on two motorcycles and abducted him.
“At such a critical time, I think this should not have been done to a Hluttaw candidate. When the country is moving forward with momentum, based on democracy and a federal system, I do not want anything that would cause obstacles. I believe it should not have been done,” said U Saw Than Myint, Joint General Secretary of the White Tiger Party.
He also stated that efforts are being made for the release of the abducted Hluttaw candidate.
It is learned that on November 29, a case was filed at Pakokku Myoma Police Station (No. Pa 172/2025) against three named PDFs (under investigation) who abducted the Hluttaw candidate to prevent him from carrying out election-related activities, under Section 24(a) of the Law on the Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption, and Destruction.
To disrupt the 2025 multiparty democratic general elections, certain individuals have been engaging in obstruction through social media posts, public speeches, statements, gatherings and mobilizations, protests, writing, and putting up visual posters, as well as interfering with election-related activities to cause damage.
It is learned that security forces have been effectively taking action against such individuals in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption, and Destruction.
